We support free and decentralized forms of expression and governance via chat messages, discussion threads, and formal votes. Title: Product Designer (Contract)

Type: Contract (no option for hire)

Compensation: $50-$75/hour depending on experience and qualifications, 20-30 hours per week

Job Summary

Common is looking for a contract product designer who will play a key role in shaping the design of our digital products. This role will require 20-30 hours per week at an hourly rate of $50-$75, depending on experience and qualifications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and our growth team, to transform concepts into intuitive user interfaces that also satisfy business needs. This is an opportunity to work on innovative projects in a fast-paced environment and make a significant impact on our product's success.

Responsibilities

  • Design Excellence: Create user-centric design mocks, leveraging your creative skills to deliver intuitive and engaging user experiences.
  • User Research: Conduct in-depth user research to uncover insights and pain points, ensuring our designs are not just visually appealing but also backed by user data.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Work closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Business Development to ensure alignment on design goals and user needs.
  • Design System Stewardship: Contribute to and maintain our design system, promoting consistency and efficiency across all our products.
  • Innovative Solutions: Use your problem-solving skills to craft innovative solutions for the unique challenges posed by web3 technologies.
  • Advocate for Design & Users: Champion the importance of design and user-centric thinking within the organization, ensuring our products not only meet business needs but also exceed user expectations.
  • User-First Approach: Balance user needs and business objectives, ensuring our products are both delightful and profitable.
  • Data-Driven Design: Leverage user analytics to inform your design decisions and continuously refine our products.
  • Web3 Enthusiasm: Develop a deep understanding of web3 products and technologies, demonstrating your commitment to staying ahead in this ever-evolving field.

Qualifications

  • Experience Matters: While we don't have strict experience requirements, we believe a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is a great starting point. We value what you've learned in that time and your potential to grow further.
  • Impressive Portfolio: Share your portfolio with us! We're looking for a portfolio that communicates your iterative process from concept to delivery, showcasing your command of design methodologies to create user-focused and research-driven solutions.
  • Self-Starter: You should be proactive, taking initiative and driving projects forward independently.
  • Tools: Highly experienced with Figma as it is our tool of choice. Experience developing deliverables ranging from user flows to high-fidelity mockups/wireframes and complex prototypes.
  • Web3 Knowledge: A solid understanding of web3 technologies and their implications is a significant advantage.
  • Mobile Experience: Experience in translating desktop design to an adaptive mobile experience is a huge plus.
