Senior Software Engineer (TEE/Linux)
Flashbots
About us
Flashbots started in 2020 as a research and development organization formed to mitigate the negative externalities and existential risks posed by Maximal Extractable Value (MEV). Since then, we have had an immense impact on the world of crypto through mev-geth, Flashbots Protect, MEV-Boost, MEV-Share, our open research and soon-to-be SUAVE.
Our mission is clear: illuminate, democratize and distribute.
We seek to ensure that the value created on decentralized, public blockchains is transparent and distributed. We do this by conducting cutting-edge research, building mission-critical products, and coordinating a diverse community with competing interests.
Our vibe is irreverent, anarchic, excellent, autonomous. We’re explorers, hackers, builders, thinkers. We are relaxed, composed, and at ease in the world, but beneath our suave exterior, we do not have the time or inclination to be anything but the best.
About the role:
Flashbots is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a broad range of experience to help us push the boundaries of technology, specifically in the realm of Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) and Linux systems. This role is ideal for a versatile engineer who excels in system optimization, automation, and maintaining robust production environments.
In this position, you will collaborate with some of the brightest minds in crypto to design, build, and maintain SGX/TDX-based products while also contributing to research initiatives that are crucial to the future of the blockchain ecosystem. You’ll play a key role in shaping Flashbots’ roadmap and driving innovation in both public and internal projects. Some of our public work includes but not limited to:
While TEE experience is highly valuable, we are also open to talented engineers with strong Linux experience and an understanding of distributed systems, cryptography, and backend development who are eager to dive into TEEs.
Areas:
Develop and maintain high-performance Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) environments within TEEs.
Build, scale, and maintain innovative products for the Flashbots TEE ecosystem, including backend and API services.
Optimize Linux systems for performance (I/O, networking, and virtualization) to enhance product reliability and scalability.
Manage software deployments and support production environments, ensuring long-term stability.
Create and manage technical documentation and examples for both public and internal use.
Who You Are:
Strong expertise in Linux systems with a deep understanding of package management, virtualization, and OS/kernel tuning for performance.
Seasoned backend developer, crafting services and APIs with a solid grasp of Ethereum or EVM-based chains
Battle-tested maintainer, with a track record of supporting software systems long-term
Proactive problem-solver who anticipates and conquers technical challenges before they escalate
Flexible, accountable T-shaped professional, focused on delivering high-impact solutions across diverse domains
Nice-to-Haves:
Security-minded engineer, well-versed in cryptography and protocols for distributed systems
Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) experience with SGX or TDX.
Experience with DevOps practices or managing production deployments.
Familiarity with Geth or other Ethereum clients.
Experience contributing to open-source projects or engaging in technical discourse within the crypto community.
If you’re a generalist with experience in Linux and system performance, or you have a background in cryptography or distributed systems, and are excited about diving deeper into TEE products, we want to hear from you!
